His promise.........Jeremiah 29:11

I live in Shelbyville, KY with my awesome husband, Tim, and our incredible 8 year old son, Joseph. I was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN and moved to the central KY area 15 years ago when Tim and I married on August 14, 1993. My time in KY has been a huge blessing in my life and I look forward to seeing where the Lord will lead me.

So sorry...

I didn't realize it has been 26 days since I last posted. I am scum. Blog scum.

Anyway, things at work have been great. I really do like this new job. The people are awesome, the work is stuff that I can do practically in my sleep, and I don't really have to think that much. Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying that it is mindless work. It's just that I have done this type of secretarial work for so many years that it comes easy to me. I have enjoyed the fact that since I don't have to worry about HOW I do my job I can concentrate on the WHY of my job. Being in the County Extension Office I have the opportunity to work for 4 different agents: 4-H, Agriculture (known as Ag from now on), Horticulture (known as Hort) and FCS (basically home ec. stuff). I was in 4-H as a kid, but I don't remember much about it. Now I am reliving the experience in a way and I find it fascinating. I really don't know much about Ag and what it entails, but I have learned some really cool stuff. Hort has never really been my thing. I love the idea of being someone (like Melinda and my dad) who can plant and grow flowers and plants and it be really beautiful, but quite frankly, I'm too lazy. But, I am learning easier (okay even lazier) ways to be a green thumb. Finally, the FCS...what can I say? I'm not exactly Martha (nor do I ever plan to be). However, I have learned a few things and I think even shared the knowledge I have (what little there is). I know that my mom would be proud of me.

I think one good thing about this job is the fact that I can be anal about almost everything and not get on people's nerves. The office is basically a blank slate for someone who knows what they're doing. I have free reign to set up the copy room my way, the reception area is all mine--that's right, DON'T TOUCH MY STUFF! No, really, I just like a neat work area and I don't want a mess when I leave for the day.

I do know that my co-workers/bosses absolutely love me being there. I work hard, I give 110%, I want to make their job easier, and I'm good at what I do. They are very appreciative about everything that I do and I know they are sincere. It's really sad when they get excited about me being able to use Excel efficiently. Honest! The other day my head boss, Jennifer, the 4-H agent, came to me and said that she needed us to come up with a way that she can keep track of all the mailings that we send out with specific numbers. "Oh, that's easy," I said. "I can just put together a spreadsheet in Excel and we can get those numbers anytime we need them--already added together for us!" Honestly, I thought she was going to have a cow. "You would be willing to do that? That would be GREAT!" Now, that's sad. Willing to do that? That's my job! Of course, I'm willing! I love it that they are so easy to please!

Here's hoping that the job will continue to excite and will provide the much needed financial relief for our family.

Hallelujah!!

The job search has officially ended! I was hired on Friday to be a Staff Assistant for the Franklin County Extension Office. This is VERY exciting for us because it will be good money, good hours, and the commute is literally 1 mile. With gas prices what they are that is wonderful. We still have to work out some things with Joseph and Nele and where they will go and who they will be with after school, but we know that God will take care of us as he always has. The people I am going to be working with are great, the atmosphere is casual (as is the dress), and I know for a fact that I am going to be good at this job. I had been praying that I would get an interview for this job and when it finally came about I knew for sure that I wanted to work there. This is going to be a great thing. Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts. I hope that all of you have a good week.
