His promise.........Jeremiah 29:11

I live in Shelbyville, KY with my awesome husband, Tim, and our incredible 8 year old son, Joseph. I was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN and moved to the central KY area 15 years ago when Tim and I married on August 14, 1993. My time in KY has been a huge blessing in my life and I look forward to seeing where the Lord will lead me.

Current feeling...

I have been feeling scattered and distant for the past few days. I'm not sure what's going on. I've been rather busy. There have been some things that have happened, but nothing I can do anything about and certainly nothing to give me reason for these feelings. So...I'm praying it out and looking forward to October 11th when Nele comes home for a long visit.

Spiritual Gifts...

I have been thinking a lot lately about spiritual gifts. I have taken several "tests" over the years that are supposed to reveal to me my gifts. Well...I still have no idea.

However, it does seem easy though to figure out what spiritual gifts other people have. This was discussed briefly at TPCC during Wednesday night bible study. So this has caused me to think about it even more. Because of all this "thinkin'" (as we say in the South) I had the opportunity to talk about spiritual gifts with Joseph (praise the Lord for homeschool!!!). We discovered that his spiritual gift is compassion. He was so excited to discover his gift. It really is fitting for him, too. Joseph has such a love for people and cares about how they are feeling. Often he seeks out opportunities to help someone or to comfort someone that he thinks is hurting. He becomes concerned for other children when he hears them crying or if they seem upset. And he loves others so deeply. It's such an amazing thing to be on this journey with him as he learns about God and how He is moving in his life. Joseph is also starting to understand the greatest gift of all--salvation. I can see that this year is going to be fun (even if I am still working on discovering my gifts)!!!

Sickness

There isn't much that can keep homeschooling from happening. By that, I mean that if things come up during the day then usually the work can be made up at another time during the day, or that night, etc. Sometimes life takes over and a mother is just too overwhelmed and needs a break. This still doesn't stop homeschooling. Children learn while playing with other children or doing things that most people would consider not educational. However, the one thing that stops homeschooling in it's tracks is sickness. We are victims of this today. Joseph went to bed last night complaining that his stomach hurt and this complaint came back when he woke up this morning and most of today. He has a low grade fever and is just generally grumpy. So, we have taken the day off and are praying that things will be back to "normal" tomorrow.
