His promise.........Jeremiah 29:11

I live in Shelbyville, KY with my awesome husband, Tim, and our incredible 8 year old son, Joseph. I was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN and moved to the central KY area 15 years ago when Tim and I married on August 14, 1993. My time in KY has been a huge blessing in my life and I look forward to seeing where the Lord will lead me.

A good book

I have been taking notice of people who are reading books out in public. This usually happens at a coffee shop, parks during lunch hours, and a few restaurants where people are sitting alone. The behavior of reading a book has caught my eye because it's not common anymore. Most often people are talking with the people they are with or on the phone. Kids are typically playing hand-held video games or complaining to a parent that they aren't playing them. So I was very pleased to happen upon a girl in a park who was reading a book that looked like it had been passed down through generations. It was a spine-cracked, dog-eared copy of "The Little Prince". This book looked well read and well loved. My interest was peaked because this young girl looked as though she was really enjoying this book. I have never had the pleasure of reading it, so I set out to find a copy. I was blessed to find one (and rather cheap at that) at our local Peddler's Mall. I began reading it that very night and now completely understand why this was a loved book. If you haven't read it then do yourself a favor and pick up a copy today.

First Swim Meet

Tonight we had our first swim meet as part of the Shelby Sunfish. We competed against Copperfield in Louisville (a good strong team). It was a long afternoon and evening (5 1/2 hours long to be exact), but it was a lot of fun. Joseph competed in freestyle and backstroke. He did well in his events and really made us proud. We are thrilled that he gets to participate in this sport. It appears that he really likes it and wants to keep doing it. His goal is to be good enough to join the Shelby Sharks this fall. He has done well so far and I think he can do it. Pray for him as he takes on this activity...that he will remember good sportsmanship, that he will work hard to achieve his goals, and that God gets the glory through all of it.

Being missed

Tim and I have heard from a few people that they really miss my posts. This is shocking since I do not see why anyone else would find my life even remotely interesting, but I guess stranger things have happened (if you think of any let me know). Sorry it's been so long since I've written. There have been tons of ideas in this head of mine, but none that I was sure enough to write about.

The main thing for me to share with everyone is Joseph's salvation. I went with him when he went to talk to Rick on Easter Sunday (he said he was a little apprehensive). He was baptized on April 27th. You would think I would have tons of pictures to share, but I do not. Photos were taken...I just haven't gotten around to putting them on my computer yet. Maybe in the next 3 months I will get my act together and post them. Until then, just know that Joseph continues to grow in his relationship with Christ and asks some great questions. He has also shared his faith with many people since it happened. It's exciting to see his spiritual life being molded.

Our lives are currently very busy. Joseph has swim team practice every day with meets every Monday night. Oh yeah...and we are moving again. We have found a house here in Shelbyville that lets us save $300 a month which will go directly into savings for our adoption of a child from Ethiopia. Tim and I started the process last month. It will be about a year before we travel an we have no idea if we will have a boy or a girl. Either way we are thrilled that God is leading us to be parents again.

Okay, I will try to write more later (in a day or so...not in 3 months) I promise. Until then, have a great weekend!
